Cedar Grove Mansion Inn and Restaurant, 2200 Oak St., is offering Halloween candlelight ghost tours of the mansion and grounds from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 28 through Oct. 31. The cost is $8. For more information, call 601-636-1000.

Spooky Pooch contest

The ninth annual Spooky Pooch pet costume contest is sponsored by Paws Rescue and is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Outlets at Vicksburg, 4000 S. Frontage Road. The categories include most creative, best owner/pet duo, spookiest and silliest. Trick-or-treating at the Outlets will follow. For more information, call 601-636-7434.

Halloween Spooktacular

The Southern Cultural Heritage Center and the Vicksburg Orchestral Society will host a Halloween Spooktacular, featuring an evening of “spooky music,” a costume contest and sweet treats at 7 p.m. Oct. 30. Admission is free but donations are encouraged.

Haunted Ghost Tours

Haunted Vicksburg Ghost Tours feature driving tours that run from Monday through Thursday at a cost of $25. On Friday and Saturday walking tours are available for $20. Reservations are required. For more information, call 601-618-6031 or visit www.hauntedvicksburg.com.

SCHC cooking class

The Southern Cultural Heritage Center, at 1302 Adams St., has scheduled a Halloween cooking workshop from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Instructor William Furlong will teach participants how to bake and prepare cool and spooky sweets and treats for the holidays. The cost is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Rocky Horror Show

The Westside Theatre Foundation will perform four showings of the Rocky Horror Show at the Coral Room, 801 Clay St. Tickets are $12 and are available by calling 601-618-9349 or by visiting www.westsidetheatrefoundation.com.

A $100 prize will be awarded to the best theme-dressed participant. No one younger than 17 will be admitted. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28.

Treats on the Streets

The 25th annual Halloween Costume Contest and Treats on the Streets will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday beginning at Veto and Washington streets and ending at Grove and Washington Streets.

Residents are encouraged to bring their kids in costume and trick-or-treat at downtown merchants.

Silent movie madness

“The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,” the classic German silent horror film, will be shown at the Strand Theatre, 717 Clay St. at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. The show will feature original live music by the local Vicksburg band Moving Machines. Tickets are $10 and available in advance at the Highway 61 Coffeehouse and online at: westsidetheatrefoundation.com.

High School Haunted Houses

The Warren Central High School Big Blue Band will host a fall festival Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and a “Zombie Prom” haunted house, starting at 6 p.m.

The fall festival will cost $5 and includes food, entertainment and children’s games. Cost for the haunted house is $3.

St. Aloysius seniors will host a haunted house from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $5.
