Vikings fall in double overtime

With so many teams bunched together in the standings, the margin between success and failure in Region 2-6A is often razor thin.

Friday night for Warren Central, it was one play.

Deshun Gibson intercepted Carlisle Koestler’s 2-point conversion pass in the end zone in the second overtime period, capping a wild 41-40 victory for Clinton and denying Warren Central a playoff berth for at least a week.

Clinton kicker Reece Everett tied the game with a 32-yard field goal with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter and provided the extra point that turned out to be the difference in the game. Quarterback Cale Luke scored on a 10-yard run on the first play of the second overtime to give the Arrows (4-5, 3-2 Region 2-6A) the lead for good.
