Vicksburg firefighter Alfred Patton throws a smoldering mattress from the second floor of America’s Best Inn after a fire at the Warrenton Road motel Thursday. Vicksburg Fire Department Assistant Chief Henry Williams said the fire was contained to one second-floor room, which sustained heat and smoke damage. A cause had not been determined. No injuries were reported.
