Edna “Grace” Embry was granted her angel wings on Oct. 25, 2012.
At age 77, she went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember one thing: know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. She believed that at death, the physical body returns to dust, and the soul of the believer is welcomed into heaven. Grace’s favorite verse in the Bible is 1 John 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Grace was born Jan. 4, 1935, in the rich delta of cotton fields, fresh air, strong religion and family values. She attended Linn High School and married her high school sweetheart, the late Edward C. Embry. They will now reunite in the heavens above.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Embry; her brothers, C.C. Burchfield of Rolling Fork and Billy Burchfield of Shaw.
Grace is survived by her loving children, daughter, Donna Embry (Bella Grace and Willow) of Vicksburg; two sons, Stanley Embry (Charlotte) and Don Embry (Emily) of Vicksburg; her family daughter, Debbie Fulcher (Randall) of Madison. She leaves behind her pride and joy of four grandchildren, Andrew Embry (Nicole) of Charleston, S.C., Adam Embry (Shawna) of Italy, Miss Madison Grace Embry of Vicksburg and Dylan Neumann of Lake Charles, La. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Patricia Burchfield of Rolling Fork, Mary Rogers of Tennessee, and Julia Embry of Illinois; brother-in-law, John S. Embry (Martha) of Pearl; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family invites you to remember and celebrate Grace’s life at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Glenwood Funeral Home. Her family friend, the Rev. Johnny Stegall of Lucedale, will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Shane Quimby, Jeff Mitchell, Chase Bradley, Miles Henley, Bobby Tullos and Corwayne Townsend.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult 5 “Heaven Bound” Sunday school class of Bowmar Baptist Church, her family of friends, Dora McAdory, Doris Brock, Polly Harris, Carol Jamison, Judy Malone Smith, Renea Bell and the Clay Street Durst Discount Drugs store staff.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Kim, Tracie, Mimi and Michelle of Patient’s Choice Hospice. Their care and compassion was above the call of their duties.
In lieu of flowers, Grace had requested that donations be made to Baptist Children’s Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; the American Cancer Society of Mississippi; or the American Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi.
