A Vicksburg teen accused of shooting a car near Vicksburg High School will stand trial in September.

Demario Mixon, 18, 911 Locust St., appeared before Circuit Court Judge Isadore Patrick Friday to be arraigned after an indictment by the Warren County grand jury for drive-by shooting, attempted aggravated assault with extreme indifference and shooting at a motor vehicle. Patrick set trial for Sept. 16.

Mixon is accused of shooting three times into a Honda Pilot near Stadium Drive and Drummond Street Aug. 19, according to court records. Seven people were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, and one of the passengers told police that Mixon had previously been in a fight with another passenger, according to an interview transcript.

Mixon surrendered the next day, but declined to be interviewed by police under advice from his attorney, Mike Bonner, according to court records.

On Aug. 27, Mixon posted $250,000 bail and was released from the Warren County Jail.

The Warren County grand jury convened on Oct. 29 and met for five days before handing down 100 indictments from 153 counts.

The arraignments have come in batches, some last week and some this week and some are expected next week.
