St. Aloysius puts seven on All-Region team

Three members of St. Aloysius’ football team — senior linebackers Sage Lewis and Elliott Bexley, and sophomore offensive tackle Drake Dorbeck — were selected to the All-Region 4-1A first team in voting by the league’s coaches.

Linebacker Max Loving, kick returner DeMichael Harris, lineman Josh Price and defensive back Barrett Teller, were selected to the second team in voting by the region’s coaches.

Bexley led the Flashes with 89 total tackles and was also the team’s leading rusher with 588 yards and six touchdowns. Lewis had 68 tackles and was also a starter on the offensive line, while Dorbeck split time between tight end and offensive tackle. He also had 43 tackles on defense.

Hinds AHS had 10 players on the All-Region team.

Punter DeAndre Bolton, who averaged 39.8 yards per punt, was the league’s specialist of the year. Also making the first team were offensive linemen Greg Watts and Brodrick Taylor; running backs DeAndre Selmon and Aaron Terrell; and linebacker Te’Yarious Jones.

Selmon and Terrell each rushed for more than 1,000 yards, while Jones had 119 tackles and two interceptions.

Making the All-Region second team from Hinds AHS were Zaveonn Branch, LeBarion Taylor, Anfernee Thomas and Derius West.
