City runner ‘Rocket Man’ found safe in Jackson

A missing Vicksburg runner was found safe Sunday in downtown Jackson.

Bradley Monk, 37, 6600 Oak Ridge Road was picked up at 7 a.m. Sunday near a shelter in downtown Jackson and returned to his home by 8 a.m., Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Monk, known as “Rocket Man” suffers from Parkinson’s disease but is an avid runner and member of Mississippi Track Club, family members said.

A neighbor had given Monk a ride to Bovina Grocery, 401 Tiffintown Road about 9 a.m. Saturday, Pace said. When the neighbor returned, Monk was gone.

Monk was spotted Saturday night walking on Interstate 20 near the county line, Pace said, and early Sunday, he was seen in downtown Jackson.
