BROOKHAVEN — The funeral service for Mrs. Eva Allen Walley was 11 a.m. today, May 5, 2015, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Broohaven with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhven and at Macedonia from 10 a.m. until time of service today.
Mrs. Eva Allen Walley passed away at her residence May 2, 2015. She was 95. She was born April 15, 1920, in Brookhaven to Henry Houston Allen and Lizzie Walker Allen. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walley was a graduate of New Sight High School. It was there she developed interest in sports, playing basketball and track events, and continued while a student at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She received a B.S. degree in home economics from the University of Southern Mississippi, retiring from teaching after 37 years in public schools and was later inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Co-Lin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Kelloy Walley, of Brookhaven; her parents; brothers, Henry Spurgeon Allen and William Curtis Allen of Jackson; and a son-in-law, Jimmy L. Clements.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dr. Kenneth Walley and wife Rebecca; daughter, Karen Walley Clements; and two grandchildren, Kenneth Walley, Jr. and wife Dr. Debbie Walley, and Richard Allen Walley.
