The Associated Press has identified the victim of this morning’s shooting at Delta State University as Ethan Schmidt, a history professor. Officials are reporting the suspect in the shooting is still at large.

Delta State officials reported an active shooter on the Delta State University campus near Jobe Hall at about 10:40 a.m.  Delta State University confirmed one fatality at 11:25 a.m.

As of 1:30 p.m., Delta State officials reported the campus remains on lockdown. They advised all to stay indoors and away from windows.

Mississippi Highway Patrol, Cleveland Police and Bolivar Sheriff’s Department are on campus, according to information released by the university.

Delta State reported on Twitter that emergency management had set up a command center and the Mississippi Governor’s Office and IHL have offered assistance.
