School energy deal nothing but smoke and mirrors

I

hope due to the color-hued front page of Tuesday’s Post that what appeared to be $8.5 million was actually $3.5 million for the school district cost to use federal money that cost us, the United States Taxpayer nothing since it was a federal government loan.

I beg to differ. Federal money is borrowed money somewhere around 2.41 percent, $8.5 million borrowed 16 years is $1.8 million in interest payments, us as taxpayers will pay.

The only spokesman for this deal of a lifetime is the spokesman for Johnson Controls. These figures exist in a perfect world, which, if someone believes in, they also believe in the fairy god mother.

Smoke and mirrors certainly come to mind in the use of a hued background in the presentation of this article by the post.

We have hired leaders with backgrounds teaching art classes to lead this school district. No disrespect to the arts being taught as I admire those with a talent in art. I wish I had that ability and mindset to be a metal sculpturer.

But when it comes to student ratings against a set standard, we are on the bottom.

Lastly, why didn’t we hear from the system financial director on their take on this?

If you as a school adminstrator or school board member or an employee of Johnson Controls would like to respond, please contact The Vicksburg Post so we as United States taxpayers can be informed how this is not going to cost us one red cent.

I invite a response to prove these statements wrong.
