A Vicksburg woman is in custody after allegedly shooting her husband in the head and killing him.

Chief of Police Walter Armstrong said Becky Harris, 46, is being detained in relation to her husband being shot in the back of the head at their residence on the 600 block of Smedes Street following an argument at approximately 10 p.m. Monday night.

Armstrong said Alfred Harris, 61, died from that gunshot.

The cause of the argument that apparently led to the shooting is still under investigation, Capt. Sandra Williams said. She said she was unsure if the two had a history of domestic violence or had had police previously dispatched to their residence. The two had no children together, Williams said.
