Warren County sheriff’s deputies made two arrests Monday afternoon after receiving reports of a truck stopping at mailboxes along Porters Chapel Road, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Deputies located the black Dodge Ram identified by “an alert citizen” to be stopping at the mailboxes within 20 minutes of the report, Pace said, adding the truck was located on China Grove Road.

“There were numerous items of mail in plain view in the vehicle that did not belong to the driver or the passenger,” Pace said.

The male driver, identified as Michael Jeremy Anderson, 34, and the female passenger, identified as Ondraya Wroten, 31, both of Peoria, Ariz., occupying the vehicle were arrested and face charges of obtaining personal identification for unlawful use, he said.

After receiving a search warrant for the impounded vehicle, Pace said deputies discovered pieces of mail from the Vicksburg area, Copiah County, Mississippi, California and Arizona.

“We’ve begun to get calls of people saying they might have had their mail stolen,” he said. “Those calls are dribbling in (locally).”

The Sheriff’s Office had to positively identity the driver and passenger who “apparently have multiple aliases,” he said. “One of the challenges posed to my investigators was to determine the true identity of the driver and the passenger.”

They are also running a parallel investigation with the federal U.S. Postal Inspectors, he said.

“We’re working with federal authorities looking at similar cases throughout the region where mail has been taken, and in most of those cases, there is an attempt to glean enough information from pieces of mail to create false identities and use that information to obtain credit cards and other means of credit or debit in order to obtain funds,” he said. “The investigation is continuing. “

Anderson and Wroten are being held without bond, he said. He would not rule out the possibility of additional arrests.
