To the editor:
Haven House Family Shelter would like to thank The Vicksburg Post and the people of Vicksburg and Warren County for making October 2016 the most successful Domestic Violence Awareness Month to date.
Through your support, Haven House was able to be a part of 18 educational programs during the month of October.
We would like to thank The Vicksburg Post for its coverage of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and publishing several articles and columns. We would also like to thank the Warren County Vicksburg Public Library for allowing Haven House to have a display during the month of October. We look forward to building on this display and making it an annual project.
Thank you to the Old Courthouse Museum for illuminating the courthouse in purple to promote awareness. Many thanks to the Board of Supervisors as well as the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness month throughout the city and the county.
Thank you to all of our law enforcement for all you do every day in making our community a safer place and by helping us to stop the violence.
Thank you to everyone who donned a purple ribbon, painted their nails purple, or wore purple in support of our cause. Special thanks to Municipal Court Judge Toni Terrett and attorney Kimberly Walker-Nailor in hosting a Community Awareness luncheon spotlighting domestic violence. Haven House would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Men of Action in hosting a Benefit Concert and a Violence Walk in support of Haven House and to bring awareness to our community.
While domestic violence awareness month is observed during the month of October, the issue is present year round. We look forward to continuing awareness throughout the year. Thank you for allowing us to serve our community.
