Man airlifted to UMMC after Friday night shooting

A 32 year-old man was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with multiple gun shot wounds Friday night.

Vicksburg Police officers responded to a shooting in the area of Fillmore and Clay streets Friday at around 11:06 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a 32 year-old man who had been shot multiple times VPD Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

According to VPD, the victim was responsive and told police he was walking in the area when a black male approached him and asked for a cigarette, then started shooting him.

The victim was air lifted to UMMC for treatment.

Edwards said Saturday the victim was listed in stable condition and VPD is looking a suspect.
