Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. was one of 109 mayors from throughout the country invited to meet with President Donald Trump during Mayor’s Day at the White House Wednesday.

Flaggs, who flew to Washington Wednesday morning, said he was “honored” to be invited to the meeting.

“I have always said that it is important to have a seat at the table,” Flaggs said. “As the mayor of Vicksburg, it is my responsibility to meet with state and national leaders in an effort to improve the quality of life for the citizens of my city. I look forward to meeting with the President to discuss issues that are important for the growth and development of Vicksburg.”
