Man gets suspended sentence; time served for drug possession and stolen firearm

A Vicksburg man has received a suspended sentence and placed on five years post-release supervision after pleading guilty in Warren County Circuit Court to possession of a controlled substance and possession of a stolen firearm.

Circuit Judge M. James Chaney sentenced Jason Jobe to 12 years in prison on the drug charge with credit for the eight months he served in jail. Chaney suspended a five-year sentence on the gun charge. Jobe, 31, was ordered to undergo long-term drug and alcohol treatment and pay $8,684.50 in fines, fees, court costs and restitution.

Jobe was arrested in August by the Vicksburg Police Department’s NET/Narcotic unit and Mississippi Bureau Narcotics agents in a room at American Best Value Inn, 185 Warrenton Road. The arrest was the result of an investigation into complaints of drug activity in the area.

In other cases:

• Bobby Lee Taylor, 46, was sentenced to five years in prison and placed on five years’ post-release supervision after pleading guilty to possession of hydrocodone. He was ordered to pay $3,384.50 in fines, fees and court costs.

• Chaney revoked the probation of Toya Yvette Warren, 38, gave her a suspended five-year sentence and ordered her to a Mississippi Department of Corrections restitution center to pay off her fine, restitution and court-ordered costs and fees. She will be placed on five years’ post release supervision after leaving the restitution center. Warren had initially pleaded guilty to two counts uttering a forgery.

• Johnny Brian Alexander, 35, was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to complete the MDOC’s long-term alcohol and drug treatment program after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine. He was ordered to pay $1,884.50 in fines, fees and court costs, and $400 in restitution.
