Holmes County inmate escapes from jail Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Miss. (AP) — Law enforcement officers are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Holmes County jail.

News outlets report that twenty-year-old Michael Amos escaped Wednesday morning from the Holmes-Humphreys Regional Correctional Facility.

Investigators could not immediately say how Amos escaped, but said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

He was being held on charges that include burglary, aggravated assault, armed robbery and felony taking of a vehicle.
