PHEBA, Miss. (AP) — A college student in Mississippi is recovering after wrecking her SUV and wandering lost for more than two days in the woods.

Victoria Hudson, 23, drank from a creek and slept in deer hunters’ tree stands.

Hudson is a forensic science major at the University of Mississippi. Early Thursday, she was driving to her mother’s house in the Clay County community of Pheba. Her mother, Glenda Hudson, says Victoria got disoriented in the rain, made a wrong turn and crashed into a ditch.

The student called 911 for help and stayed on the line with a sheriff’s deputy until her cellphone died.
