One person has died as a result of what is believed to be an overnight wreck in Warren County.

Monday morning at 7 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol was advised of a wreck involving a motorcycle on Mississippi 465 near the Eagle Lake Community, according to MHP Corp. Kervin K. Stewart.

For unknown reasons, it appears that the rider left the roadway, struck a mailbox and overturned, with the motorcycle landing on top of him. The victim of the crash, identified as Robert D. Barnette, 65, of Eagle Lake, died as a result of his injuries.

According to Stewart, it is believed that the crash may have occurred Sunday evening as Barnette was headed home after stopping at a convenience store some time after 7 p.m.
