GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for helping dispose of the body of a woman who was killed.

The Sun Herald reports that 33-year-old Aaron Bobinger of Gulfport was sentenced Monday.

District Attorney Joel Smith says Bobinger asked for leniency because he cooperated with prosecutors in the trial of another man charged in the case. Bobinger pleaded guilty to accessory-after-the-fact to murder, with a maximum penalty of 20 years.

Five people were indicted on charges connected to the killing of Tena Broadus, whose mother reported her missing in September 2015. Divers found her burned remains in the Biloxi River the next month.

Co-defendants testified that 31-year-old Joshua Peterman and 21-year-old Devon Gregory killed Broadus, and all involved were using methamphetamine when Broadus was attacked and killed.
