NEW ORLEANS — Kenner police arrested a mother who went on the attack after people tried to rescue her 2 small children in a hot car.

WWL radio in New Orleans reports officers were called to Williams Boulevard, around 1:23 p.m. on Sunday, where they found an 11-month-old and a 3-year-old, and learned the children had been locked in a hot car.

The mother, 22-year-old Shawnise Sherman, arrived before officers and started yelling at the 911 caller and other witnesses when she found out the police had been called.  Sherman reportedly physically attacked the person who made the 911 call.

Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser told WWL radio that he commends the 911 caller and witnesses. He said the citizens’ actions avoided what could have been a very tragic situation.
