RALEIGH, Miss. (AP) — A husband and wife are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Smith County.

Sheriff Charlie Crumpton tells WLBT-TV the husband called police around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. When deputies arrived, they found the couple dead.

Crumpton says investigators believe 63-year-old Wayne Garner shot and killed his wife, 55-year-old Trudy Garner, before taking his own life. A shotgun was recovered from the scene.
