Grange Hall Road fire, explosion under investigation

Vicksburg fire and police investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire and explosion that destroyed an outbuilding on property at 890 Grange Hall Road Saturday evening, Fire Chief Craig Danczyk said.

According to fire department reports, firefighters received a 911 call about the fire and multiple explosions on the property, and arrived to find the building located behind a mobile home on fire. No one was on the property when firefighters arrived.

After the fire was extinguished, Danczyk said, firerfighters discovered several propane tanks and other tanks with material under pressure had been damaged.

“After I heard what was found, I called my fire investigator, Nathaniel Williams, and Police Chief Milton Moore and asked for some of his investigators to help with determining the cause of the fire,” he said. “It’s still too soon to tell exactly what happened. Hopefully we will be able to find the source of ignition and determine what happened.”
