The race for 9th Circuit District Judge Place 1 remains unofficial, but Municipal Judge Toni Walker Terrett continues to lead Angela Carpenter by less than 200 votes.
The winner will replace Judge Isadore Patrick who is retiring and not seeking re-election.
Unofficial returns show Terrett leading the race with 3,011 votes to 2,858 for Carpenter — a difference of 153 votes — after 400 affidavit ballots were counted in Warren County Thursday and Friday. Four voter ID ballots will not be counted until next week. People voting without ID have five working days to present a valid ID to have their ballot counted.
Terrett captured Warren County with 2,161 votes to Carpenter’s 1,711, but the district also includes Issaquena and Sharkey counties.
The totals also include voting precinct returns from Issaquena and Sharkey counties, but do not include absentee or affidavit ballots from those counties.
Carpenter won in Issaquena and Sharkey counties, getting 339 votes to 161 for Terrett in Issaquena County, and 808 votes to 689 for Terrett in Sharkey County. A spokesman for the circuit clerk’s office in Issaquena said Friday the county had six voter ID ballots remaining to be counted.
Attempts to reach the circuit clerk in Sharkey County were unsuccessful Friday, but a spokeswoman for the Sharkey County Circuit Clerk’s office said Wednesday the county’s 169 absentee ballots were counted, but have not been included in the vote total. She said the office has 10 affidavit ballots that have not been counted.
A total of 13,984 voters, about 44 percent of Warren County’s 31,836 registered voters, cast ballots Tuesday.
