A wood-burning stove is believed to be the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a double-wide mobile home in the Kings community Friday, Fire Chief Craig Danczyk said.

He said firefighters received a 911 call about the fire at the home at 3777 North Washington St. about 9 a.m. Friday, adding Engines 9, 6, the department’s platform truck and rescue responded to the fire, which had spread into the home’s attic.

The occupants of the home and their pets escaped the blaze and there were no injuries.
