A Vicksburg Warren School District bus driver was reportedly injured early Monday when the school bus he was driving went off the road and became stuck in mud in on Fisher Ferry Road south of Goodrum Road.

According to Warren County Sheriff’s Office reports, the wreck occurred about 7:15 a.m. Driver Robert Thomas said he was southbound on Fisher Ferry Road to begin his route when a pickup truck entered his lane and he swerved to avoid it, leaving the road and getting stuck in mud.

No students were on the bus at the time, and a wrecker was called to pull the bus out of the mud. Thomas was taken to Merit Health River Region as a precaution.
