Bystander injured during shooting at Mission Park ball field

­A 19-year-old woman was wounded in the leg during a gun battle involving several vehicles at the Mission Park ball field, located at the corner of Mission 66 and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Lt. Johnnie Edwards, with the Vicksburg Police Department, said the incident began in the parking area near the park and continued as the cars pulled away. He said the shooting victim is believed to have been an innocent bystander. She was taken to Merit Health River Region, where she is in stable condition.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
