Johnnie W. “J.W.” Wright Sr.

Johnnie W. “J.W.” Wright Sr. died Friday, December 20, 2019, at the Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 86.

 J.W. was a lifelong resident of Warren County where he graduated from Jett High School. He later retired as a foreman for the Marathon-LeTourneau Company after 44 years of service. He had been a member of the Highland Masonic Lodge since 1954, a member of the LeTourneau Quarter Century Club since 1984, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter 147 since 2005 and a member of Hills and Hollows Hunting Club since 1960. He was a U.S. Army veteran where he served in the Korean Conflict.

He has been a member of Grace Baptist Church since 1984.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Grey Wright of Vicksburg; his five daughters, Virginia Kay Morris of Panama City, Fla., Leslie Gaither of Kansas City, Mo., Robin Wright of Macedonia, Ohio, Ashley Nevels of Tampa, Fla. and Shannon Contreras of San Antonio, Texas; his five sons, Johnnie W. “Bill” Wright Jr. and Timothy G. Wright both of Vicksburg,  Christopher Shannon Wright and Albert S. Wright III both of Sand Springs, Okla. and George W. Wright of Tulsa, Olka.; his four sisters, Helen Shiers Luckett and Beverly Ann Biedenharn both of Vicksburg, Emma Gossen of S. Carolina and Lillie Biedenharn of Oxford; his brother, Billy Jean Wright of Vicksburg; numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Abel officiating. Interment will follow with Masonic Rites in the Yokena Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kanton Wright, Brandon Wright, Hayden Palmer, Chase Nevels, Damon Watt, Kevin Wright and Dustin Wright.
