While the current school year is still a few months from wrapping up, the Vicksburg-Warren School Board of Trustees will be asked Thursday to approve the calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.

In the proposed calendar that is part of the agenda for Thursday’s meeting, the school year will begin with teachers returning from their summer break on Aug. 3, with students making their return to the classroom on Aug. 7.

The first extended break of the year for students will come during the fall break, which is scheduled for Oct. 9-12.

Students will still receive an early dismissal on the Friday before Christmas, with Christmas break officially beginning Monday, Dec. 21. Students will be called back to class the Tuesday after New Year’s Day, which will be Jan. 5.

Spring break will fall the week of March 15 in the proposed calendar, with the Easter holiday on April 2-5.

And, for those already looking forward to the Class of 2021 graduating, the graduation dates have also been laid out.

Seniors at River City Early College will receive their diplomas on May 26, with Warren Central holding their ceremonies on May 27 and Vicksburg rounding out the graduation schedule on May 28.

The final day for students is set for May 27.

The Trustees meeting Thursday will be held at the Vicksburg-Warren School District office, 1500 Mission 66, at 5:30 p.m.
