Graveside funeral services for Betty J. Brown will be Monday, April 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. R.D. Benard officiating.

Betty J. Brown passed away Wednesday, April 15, after a brief illness. She was 71.

She had worked for AT&T for over 22 years as a product manager, and was presently employed by Essex county as a fraud investigator for the past 16 years.

She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church of Newark, N.J. She was a 1971 graduate of Xavier University of New Orleans, La., having obtained her BA degree, and a 1981 graduate of Rutgers University attaining her master’s degree.

She was also a member of the Black Women’s League and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie E and Mattie L. Brown.

She is survived by her sister, Janice Brown of Florence; and her two uncles, Johnny Orr and Ernest Jackson, both of Sacramento, Calif.
