In a bit of good news and a sign that things are returning to some level of normalcy, officials the Vicksburg and Warren County Historical Society announced the iconic Old Court House Museum would reopen Tuesday.

“We are taking every precaution in reopening and will follow the CDC’s recommended guidelines for business operations to ensure the safety of all those that come to visit,” the group announced on Facebook. “We want to thank everyone for their continued support of the museum during the closure.”

Museums are among the parts of the economy that were allowed to reopen beginning Monday morning as Gov. Tate Reeves announced the easing of restrictions brought about by the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The museum, which is among the most-visited sites in Vicksburg, was closed to visitors in mid-March as local and state officials responded to the spread of the virus.
