They had to wait a few extra weeks and go through a few final, unusual months of their senior year, but the members of Porter’s Chapel Academy’s Class of 2020 will get to graduate together.

In a ceremony that will be held during a time of strict social distancing guidelines, the 33 graduates will not only have a chance to have an in-person ceremony, but they will have the chance to celebrate their accomplishments with a few friends and family.

The ceremony will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Vicksburg and will be limited to the graduates, four family members per graduate and key members of the school’s administration.

According to guidelines set by the local and state governments, churches are limited to 50 percent capacity, which gives this ceremony enough space to be held. Those attending are also strongly urged to wear some type of face covering.

Crabtree said the event will also be live-streamed and shared on the school’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PortersChapelEagles. A link to the online service will also be emailed to the graduates, their families and those connected to the school.
