McCoy’s Vicksburg location temporarily closes after employee tests positive for COVID-19

In a letter sent to employees and customers Thursday, McCoy’s Building Supply in Vicksburg announced an employee has tested positive for COVID-19 and that the store, located on Clay Street, is temporarily closed.

“Our employee was not feeling well, sought medical care, and was tested,” the letter said.

The company said the employee was last in the store on Tuesday.

“We have sent our team members home with full pay. We are notifying those who had close contact with our employee, and as a result, several of our employees were placed on paid leave,” the company said. “We will continue to take steps to implement the federal, state, and local guidance to keep our teams and customers safe.”

The latest figures from the Mississippi State Health Department have shown the number of cases increasing in Warren County. Just Wednesday, the county saw its second-highest one-day count in new cases when 18 new cases were reported. Overall, Warren County has seen 280 cases since the start of the pandemic and 14 virus-related deaths.

Due to technical programs Thursday and Friday, the state has not provided updated county statistics since Wednesday.
