The Mississippi State Department of Health announced Monday that no new cases of COVID-19 had been reported overnight.

The zero cases reported continued the recent trend of lower numbers and kept the month of September as one of the best months thus far during the pandemic in regards to new cases.

So far, over the first 21 days of the month, Warren County has reported 67 cases, compared to 290 over the first 21 days of August and a high of 323 cases over the first 21 days of July.

In June, the first 21 days of that month saw 109 cases, while the first 21 days of May saw 70 cases. In April, the first full month of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were just 24 cases reported in the first 21 days of the month.

The no new cases Monday comes after a week where the county again saw its two-week average of new cases drop. With the 14 days ending Sunday, the county reported 2.86 new cases per day, slightly lower than the two-week period ending Sept. 13, when the 14-day average was 2.95.

Overall, the county has now reported 1,381 cases of COVID-19 since the first case was reported in Warren County on March 29. The county has also reported 50 virus-related deaths. Of those deaths, 24 have been connected to one of the county’s long-term care facilities.

As for the state as a whole, just 192 new cases were reported Monday with no new deaths. Monday’s report also showed a reduction of stress on the state’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly those patients on ventilators. As of Monday’s report, 77 patients were on ventilators compared to 88 one week ago and 110 three weeks ago.
