Warren Central’s Allie Mason is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Allie Mason helped Warren Central’s girls’ soccer team surge through the playoffs, and rode the wave to The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week award.

Mason, a freshman forward, received 1,338 of the 2,124 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to claim this week’s award.

Vicksburg High basketball player Rodrianna Hall finished second with 535 votes, runner Walker Lambiotte was third with 279 votes, and Porter’s Chapel Academy basketball player Jae’la Smith finished fourth.

Mason scored a total of three goals in two playoff victories last week to help the Lady Vikes reach the MHSAA Class 6A semifinals for the first time in school history. Mason scored twice in a 3-0 win over Grenada, and once in a 3-1 win against Neshoba Central.

The Lady Vikes play Saltillo Wednesday at 4 p.m. for a trip to the Class 6A championship game.
