Warren Central tennis beats Columbus, stays undefeated in Region 2-6A

Warren Central’s tennis team will take a week off for spring break. It’s earned the rest.

The Vikings won six matches in straight sets, and went on the road to beat Columbus 6-1 on Thursday for their third victory in a row.

Duke Esparza defeated Devin Short in boys singles 6-0, 6-0, and the No. 1 girls doubles team of Ellie Tennison and Avery Hern won by the same score.

Lilli Feibelman won 6-0, 6-2 against Bailey Washington in girls singles.

In boys doubles, Warren Central’s Sam Harris and Charles Harris won 6-1, 6-1 vs. Jordan Ross and Malik Washington in the No. 1 position; and Gray Lampkin and Brady Taylor beat Khye Hairston and Christopher Elem 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2.

The mixed doubles team of Luke Bond and Sydney Sullivan also won, 6-4, 6-1 against Jonathan Ross and Alexandria Magee.

Warren Central (5-7) was playing its 13th match in 23 days, and improved to 3-0 in MHSAA Region 2-6A. It won’t play again until March 16, when it hosts the Halls Ferry Park Classic at the Halls Ferry Park courts in Vicksburg. Porter’s Chapel Academy, Pearl and Grenada will also play in the tournament.
