Shirley Alexander Warren

Shirley Alexander Warren passed away Saturday, March 9, at the age of 84.

Shirley was born February 27, 1940, to Bane and Ladell Stewart Alexander. She was raised in Calhoun County, the daughter of a farmer and a preacher.

She grew up with a green thumb and played piano for gospel groups. She married Kenneth Warren from the Shiloh Community.

They made their home in Vicksburg, where they were very active members of Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He served as music minister and she served as organist.

She retired from the health department after 30 years of service. After retirement, she traveled extensively.

She was very dedicated to her family and was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger. To know her was to love her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Steve and her husband, Ken.

Shirley is survived by her son, Chris Warren (Mary); daughter, Jennifer Tillotson (Jamie); grandchildren, Isaac Warren, Gracee Warren, Jon Warren, Zak Tillotson (Bella), Alex Tillotson, Caleb Tillotson (Amber), and Jesse Tillotson (Jessica); seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Glenwood Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Dr. Bob Ford.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at The Church at Shiloh in Pelahatchie.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Isaac Warren, Jon Warren, Zac Tillotson, Alex Tillotson, Caleb Tillotson, and Jesse Tillotson.
