Rolling Fork to mark first anniversary of deadly tornado

The Rolling Fork community will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the devastating 2023 tornado with a resource fair and appreciation lunch for first responders Friday, March 22, at South Delta High School, located 106 Athletic Dr., Rolling Fork.

The lunch will be held at noon, followed by a program. This is the event at which the governor, congressional delegation, and other local, state and federal officials have been invited to attend and speak.

Saturday, March 23, there will be a Celebration Day in downtown Rolling Fork with an Easter egg hunt and other activities. The traveling Smithsonian exhibit about rural America will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, also in downtown Rolling Fork.

Sunday, March 24, the community will gather for a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr Street in front of the city hall property and behind the Sharkey County Courthouse.
