After suffering a midweek loss, St. Aloysius’ baseball team did not wait long to get back to its winning ways.

Barrett Shows doubled, tripled, and drove in four runs, Walt Andrews had two RBIs and pitched three innings of shutout ball, and St. Al smashed Providence Classical 22-3 Friday at Bazinsky Field.

St. Al (11-8, 5-1 MAIS District 4-5A) outscored Providence Classical 44-4 in a three-game series sweep this week. On Friday, it scored eight runs in both the first and third innings, and six in the second, to secure a run-rule victory.

Shows’ two-run triple was a big hit in the eight-run third inning.

The Flashes finished with 16 hits. Every starter had at least one, and five players had two — Shows, Lee, Keller Bradley, Laken Bradley and Damien Reeves. Reeves also scored three runs.

Andrews allowed two hits and no walks in his three innings on the mound, and had four strikeouts.

St. Al will play again Saturday at 11 a.m. at Riverside, and then come back to Bazinsky Field on Tuesday to face Cathedral in another District 4-5A game.
