St. Al rolls in tuneup for playoffs

St. Aloysius’ boys soccer team finished the regular season the same way it started — with a lopsided defeat of hapless Park Place Christian.

Lofton Varner scored three goals, Justin Ehrgott and Ryan Theriot had two apiece, and the Flashes routed Park Place 11-0 on Tuesday in their regular-season finale.

Justin Goodwin and Casey Griffith each had a goal and two assists, Landon Little had a goal and three assists, and Gradon Bourne had one goal and one assist. Connor Bottin had two assists.

St. Al (12-0) will go into next week’s MAIS Division III playoffs with a No. 1 seed and will have homefield advantage throughout. It’ll host Heritage Academy in a first-round game Monday. Kickoff is tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m.
