Man faces murder charge

A Vicksburg man has been indicted on a charge of murder in the April shooting death of his former girlfriend.

Darrell Lapercy Green, 57, 1241 West Magnolia St., was also indicted for possession of a firearm after felony conviction, and is being charged as a habitual offender because he had prior convictions for robbery and forgery.

He is accused of shooting Latonya Love Campbell, 45, at her home at 160 Elizabeth Circle.

According to police reports, Green and Campbell had been dating and ended the relationship. When Campbell returned home from work April 15, she found Green at her home and an argument began that resulted in Green shooting her.

In another case, Marvell Amos, 30, 106 Ash St., Deldrick Cliffvontae Harper, 20, 106 Ash St. Apt. 2, and Alexis Diane Harris. 20, 426 Dana Road, were each indicted on three counts of attempted aggravated assault-extreme indifference and one county shooting into a dwelling-house. Amos and Harper were each indicted on possession of stolen firearm.

The three are accused of firing shots into an apartment on China Street occupied by two adults and a child on Feb. 7. According to Vicksburg police, Amos and one of the apartment’s occupants had been involved in an argument earlier that day.

Other indictments included:

• Canary Johnson, no age listed, 5041 Mississippi 27, and James Willie Ross, 47, 5041 Mississippi 27, were indicted on three counts of sexual battery-victim under age 14 and one count of statutory rape-victim under age 14 involving incidents with two children that occurred during December.

Johnson, who is identified in the indictment as the mother of both children, is charged with two counts of child neglect.

• Ricky Lee Perkins, 20, 824 Polk St., was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault-domestic violence in a February incident in which he shot a woman in the arm during an argument.

•  Jonathan Bradley Peets, 29, 1282 Timber Ridge Road, Terry, was indicted for obstruction of justice for his attempts to prevent officers from arresting Krystal Pickett-Spring by trying to hide her at a home in the 300 block of Lake Hill Drive.

Spring, who was wanted by Madison County authorities for possession of methamphetamine, and the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation, was arrested at the home by Warren County sheriff’s deputies and agents with the U.S. Marshal Service’s Fugitive Task Force.

• Calvin Lynn Brewer, 33, 521 Speed St.; possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.

• Marshall Perry Davidson, 53, 303 Grey Creek Drive; possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.

• Rodrick Wayne Williams, 28, 1418 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.; sale of a controlled substance-marijuana.

• Robert Lee Hunt, 36, 280 Grand Hall Road; possession of a controlled substance-marijuana.

• Gage Leonard Hayes, 26, 42 Dupont Road, Prentiss; possession of contraband within a jail or correctional facility. He is accused of trying to smuggled a cell phone into the Warren County Jail.

Jerome Wayne Jones, 50, 2053 Heather Drive; felony shoplifting involving the theft of steaks from a local store.

• Dalton Wayne Hynum, 49, 678 Kirkland Road; receiving stolen property.

• Quincy Ladell Williams, 41, 909 Bowmar St.; non-residential burglary.

• Nathan Carson, 24, 302 Overlook Drive; possession of a stolen firearm.

• Elliot Danelle Cameron, 25, 3539 Meatnerton Drive, Davenport, Iowa; larceny-motor vehicle.

• Chantrey Tyrell Davis, 29, 6285 Mississippi 27, and James Joshua Sharlow, 32, 3011 Washington St.; burglary of a dwelling.

• Hunter Cryer, 16, 1245 Mount Alban Road Lot 8; larceny-motor vehicle. Cryer was certified to be charged as an adult after a previous auto theft.

• Landon Thomas Quinton, 18, 317 Magnolia St., Edwards; vehicle burglary.

• Anthony Dwayne Woodland, 25, 203 Starlight Drive; possession of a controlled substance-Ecstasy.

• Steven Washington, 61, 2016 High Hill Drive; malicious mischief.

• Andrew Howell Hearn, 21, 581 Stenson Road Lot 4; obstruction of justice. He is accused of trying to hide Hunter Cryer from sheriff’s deputies.

• Romelo James Walker, 20, 1310 Bowmar Ave., possession of a controlled substance- cocaine.

• Hubert Owen Simons, 59, 45 Timberlane Place; third-offense DUI.

• Rachel Haley Brogdon, 31, 1644 Chambers St.; embezzlement in the theft of $2,293.18 form Vicksburg Women’s Care Inc.

• Jonathan Wayne Clay Jr., 25, 1107 Speed St., fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer and possession of a stolen firearm.

• Jeremy Dwayne Austin, no age listed, 5610 Gibson Road; possession of a weapon after felony conviction.
