One person is wounded and police are searching for a suspect after a shooting in the vicinity of Jackson and Second North streets, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Police responded to a call about a man being shot and found him on the Vicksburg Warren School District’s Academy of Innovation grounds. The man, who was not identified, was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center by ambulance, Williams said. She said the shooting did not involve anyone affiliated with the school.

The shooting remains under investigation, Williams said.
