One person has been transported to UMMC in Jackson and is in critical condition following a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 20 eastbound.

The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near the scales and involved a Hyundai SUV and a Chevrolet SUV.

According to officials, both vehicles were traveling eastbound in the right hand lane when the Chevrolet SUV struck the Hyundai in the rear.

Both vehicles went off the roadway and crashed.

The driver of the Chevrolet was ejected and airlifted to UMMC in critical condition.

The family of three that were traveling inside the Hyundai was reportedly not injured.
