Man faces molestation charges

A Vicksburg man has been charged with molesting and touching a 15-year-old juvenile during an incident Tuesday, Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnny Edwards said.

Silvester Gaston, 56, 801 First East St., was arrested Wednesday at a home on Central Drive. He was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond after an initial appearance Thursday in Vicksburg Municipal Court.

According to police reports, the victim called a friend to leave the home where Gaston had reportedly touched her improperly. The victim’s mother and police were called about the incident. After an investigation, police arrested Gaston.

In other cases:

• Willie Miles, 34, 1317 Farmer St., was arrested about 12:33 p.m. Sunday on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections charging him with probation violation.

• Chips were reported taken Friday about 8:38 a.m. and about 7:27 a.m. Tuesday from Frito-Lay vans parked at the Frito-Lay distribution center, 75 Centrex Drive.

• Nine pair of black Rock Revival jeans and three Heritage by America T-shirts were reported taken about 12:59 p.m. Sunday from Jordan’s at the Vicksburg Mall, 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd. Saturday, store officials reported the theft of A.K.O.O jeans and T-shirts.

• A Smith & Wesson MP Shields 9mm handgun with two magazine and 50 rounds of ammunition were reported taken about 1:29 p.m. Monday from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Buena Vista Drive.

• Officials with the River City Rescue Mission reported about 12:32 a.m. Sunday that a bank bag containing $2,900 was taken.

• A counterfeit $20 bill was reported passed about 10:15 p.m. Sunday at the Riverwalk Casino.

• A yellow and green hammock, red tool box and size 7 hiking boots were reported taken about 12:43 a.m. Sunday from a vehicle parked at the intersection of Washington and Jackson streets.

• A black .25-caliber seemi-automatic handgun and $85 were reported taken about 10:35 p.m. Satruday from a vehicle parked at the Klondyke, 100 North Washington St.

• A 7mm rifle, Marlin .22-caliber rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun were reported taken about 8:03 a.m. Saturday from a vehicle parked in the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road.

• Shots were reported fired in the 3100 block of Washington Street.

• Three cartons of Winston cigarettes, $40 in groceries and two blankets were reported taken from The Repair Shop, 5266 U.S. 61 South.

• Two auto burglaries occurred Friday in the parking lot at Dillards, 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd. A brown Jessica Simpson purse with $150 were reported taken about 6:48 p.m. from a vehicle parked at About three hours later, a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun, red Hewlett-Packard laptop and a CD carrier with 80 music CDs were reported taken about 9:06 p.m. from another vehicle.

• Shots were reported fired about 8:23 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Halls Ferry Road and Speed Street.

Police made the following arrests Tuesday and Wednesday:

• Brian Bradley Chocolate, 31, 1520 Ethel St., was arrested about 1:44 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on charges of trespassing and second-offense shoplifting.

• Tiffany Cherie Smith, 39, 726 Sherman Ave., was arrested about 1:36 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on charges of first-offense shoplifting and simple assault — creating fear.

• Landon Thomas Quinton, 18, 1115 First North St., was arrested about 2:14 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on charges of second-offense shoplifting and trespassing.

• Chasity Nivole Ozburn, 41, 74 Spouts Springs Road, was arrested about 1:36 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on a charge of first-offense shoplifting.

• Antonio Dewayne Gordon, 11 Robert St. was arrested about 1:31 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on charges of harassing phone call — indecent and stalking. He waa also served with a warrant.
