Man accused of shooting brother

A Vicksburg man faces aggravated assault charges accused of shooting his brother in the arm during an argument Saturday night, Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

Rafeel Wells, 27, 221 First Ave., was being held in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility without bail pending an initial appearance in Municipal Court Monday.

Wells’ brother, Ronald Taundiwee Wells, 39, was wounded in the right forearm. He was taken to Merit Health River Region by ambulance.

The shooting occurred about 11:12 p.m. at the brothers’ home at 221 First Ave. Edwards said police had been called to the home about 3 p.m. Saturday concerning a stabbing, and saw Rafeel Wells had a cut on his left arm.

According to police reports, the brothers had a fight over the use of a cell phone, and he may have been injured by broken glass during the fight.
