A little luck of the Irish in Vicksburg

Green beer, Irish cuisine and maybe a few Irish car bombs will be available for those looking to capture a little luck on St. Patrick’s Day in Vicksburg Saturday.
Martin’s at Midtown and Monsour’s at the Biscuit Company will be hosting St. Patrick’s Day festivities Saturday complete with drink specials, Irish menus and plenty of green to go around.
“Sometimes we have an overflow crowd,” John Martin, who owns Martin’s, said. “We usually have 40 to 50 people who came and eat with us and have a few Irish beers and have a nice afternoon.”
Martin’s will be serving Irish Stew, Irish rarebit, a heavy cheese sauce served over bread, and fisherman’s pie, a cod and cream sauce baked over mashed potatoes, and also celebrating the day with a few special versions of Guinness half and half dinks. The restaurant opens at 4 p.m. and they will start serving food at 4:30 p.m.
“We pour Guinness, which is the quintessential Irish beer and we do mixes with it,” Martin said. “We will do it with, the classic is Harp, which is a light lager and most people call those a half and half. We’ll pour it with Blue Moon, which is a black and blue and we’ll do it with Newcastle, which is a black castle. All sorts of fun things like that.”
Monsour’s will be serving classic St. Patrick’s dishes including corn beef and cabbage and Reuben sandwiches. They will also be serving green beer. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. and food will be served until 10:30 p.m.
The band Rewind will be on hand from 8 p.m. to midnight.
