City gas department workers are in the process of restoring service after repairing a broken line on South Frontage Road by the Outlets at Vicksburg Tuesday afternoon.

Water and gas supervisor Dane Lovell said the break occurred about 11:30 a.m. when a contractor boring to install a telephone cable punctured a service line near Cracker Barrel.

He said the incident forced the city to shut off gas service to about 100 customers along South Frontage Road east from the outlets mall, East Clay Street, U.S. 80, Mississippi 27 and Paxton Road, including Warren Central High School and Hinds Community College.
