Brothers charged in Sunday drive-by shooting

Vicksburg Police arrested two teenage brothers for a drive-by shooting and aggravated assault that occurred April 14 in the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive where another juvenile was injured.

About 11 a.m., police arrested Samuel Caron Smith, 17. His brother, Demarion Tayshaun Smith, 15, turned himself in a few hours later.

The brothers reportedly rode through the neighborhood and reportedly fired shots from the car they were riding in and then left the area.

One shot grazed a juvenile victim.

The victim was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center by private vehicle, where he was treated and released.

Both brothers turned themselves in to police at the police department.

Samuel was charged with drive-by shooting. His bond Friday was set at $25,000 during an initial court appearance.

Demarion was charged with drive-by shooting and aggravated assault. His bond was set at a total of $50,000.
