For the second day in a row, Warren County got good news in the fact that no new COVID-19 cases were reported. For the second day in a row, there was also tragic news as another virus-related death was reported.

In Monday’s report by the Mississippi State Department of Health, Warren County stood steady at 964 cases reported during the months-long pandemic, but the death toll locally moved to 27.

The report also lowered the county’s 14-day thresholds, moving the county closer to moving away from being considered a virus hot spot in Mississippi. With the zero cases Monday, Warren County has reported 237 new cases over the past 14 days, which is above one threshold, but the number of cases per 100,000 residents fell to 486, which is below another threshold.

Statewide, health officials announced 572 new cases and eight deaths. Since the first case was reported in Mississippi on March 11, the state has reported 61,125 cases and 1,711 deaths. Approximately 17,000 cases in Mississippi are considered active.
