Tallulah pedestrian killed in single-vehicle accident

A Tallulah man was killed Friday after being struck by a vehicle while walking on a highway in Madison Parish, La.

According to information from Louisiana State Police (LSP), 74-year-old Johnnie Brunson was struck by a 2015 Chrysler 200 traveling west on U.S. Highway 80 just after 10 p.m.

Troopers with LSP Troop F said the investigation revealed Brunson, who was wearing dark clothing, was walking in the westbound lane of U.S. 80 near the centerline. For reasons still under investigation, Brunson was struck by the vehicle.

Brunson suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Chrysler was properly restrained and uninjured.

Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis, LSP officials said.

This crash remains under investigation.
